Russia rejects allegation it bombed US-backed fighters in Syria

A Russian navy spokesperson pushed again on allegations Russian airstrike hit U.S.-backed opposition fighters in Syria.

The Syrian Democratic Forces, an alliance of Kurdish and Arab militias, stated Saturday that its fighters had been wounded in the airstrike close to the japanese metropolis of Deir el-Zour in an space that lately had been liberated from the Islamic State group.

However, the Russian Defense Ministry stated Sunday that its planes focused Islamic State militants solely and that the U.S. was warned in advance of its operational plans.


“To keep away from pointless escalation, the commanders of Russian forces in Syria used an present communications channel to tell our American companions in good time in regards to the borders of our navy operation in Deir al-Zor,” Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov stated, reports Reuters.

“In the previous few days, Russian surveillance and reconnaissance didn’t detect a single conflict between Islamic State and armed representatives of any ‘third pressure’ on the japanese financial institution of the Euphrates,” he added.
