Marines in burn unit following Camp Pendleton training accident

A car hearth at Camp Pendleton in California left 15 Marines injured — eight of them in the burn unit — following a training train accident on Wednesday morning.

A seafaring assault car caught hearth throughout a scheduled battalion training occasion on a seaside on the base, Paul Gainey, spokesman for the Marine 1st Division, mentioned.

According to officers, eight of the Marines have been taken to a burn unit on the University of California San Diego Health. Of these eight, three have been in important situation, whereas 5 Marines have been in critical situation.

Of the opposite seven Marines injured, two are in important situation, two are receiving medical remedy however are in unknown situation, whereas one is in secure situation and two others are being handled for minor accidents.

“Our ideas and prayers are with the injured members of our Division household,” the first Marine Division wrote on Twitter.


Officials are investigating the accident.

The incident comes greater than a month after a training accident left one Marine dead at Camp Pendleton.

Lance Cpl. Cody J. Haley, 20, died after a tree fell on him throughout routine training. He was deployed with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit in early 2016.
