Black Lives Matter targets Jefferson monument in Charlottesville

The divide over statues and monuments in Charlottesville, Va., seems removed from over.

“We can and should condemn the violence of 1 month in the past and concurrently acknowledge Jefferson as a rapist, racist, and slave proprietor,” the unidentified speaker stated, the web site reported. “The visibility of bodily violence from white supremacists mustn’t take our consideration away from condemning and disrupting extra ‘respectable’ racists that proceed to manage the buildings that perpetuate institutional racism.”

The college didn’t instantly touch upon the Jefferson statue shrouding, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported. No law enforcement officials have been seen at Tuesday’s protest, based on the newspaper.
