Nurse wounded in shooting at Florida hospital; 1 arrested

Authorities say a nurse at a Florida hospital was shot by a person who grabbed a gun from a state trooper who introduced him in for therapy.

Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Patrick Riordan mentioned troopers had three interactions with a pedestrian Saturday alongside Interstate 75 earlier than taking him to West Marion Community Hospital in Ocala.

Authorities did not say why he wanted therapy. At the hospital, troopers tried to arrest him on a cost of failure to obey a lawful order.

Riordan mentioned the person grabbed a trooper’s gun and fired. According to Riordan, a nurse was shot in the leg and hospitalized in secure situation. Three troopers suffered minor accidents whereas combating the suspect.

Authorities arrested the suspect, whose identify wasn’t launched. A hospital spokeswoman did not instantly return messages.
