Soundcity Africa rebrands, reveals nominees for #SoundcityMVP2016
Soundcity Africa – the Music and Lifestyle TV Network has rebranded and expanded into new market as it is now available to DStv Subscribers in South Africa and other Southern African countries on channel 327 in addition to live streaming via the Soundcity Mobile Apps (available in the Google Play and iOS app store).

The Pan African music and lifestyle channel has also announced the Soundcity MVP Awards Feeestival and unveils the nominees.The nominees in all 14 categories at Soundcity MVP 2016 have been announced with tickets on sale and voting on going since the official announcement via @SOUNDCITYtv social media accounts and soundcitymvp.com website went live. Social media, blogs and radio banter have ensued and nominees calling fans to action for votes.
The maiden edition of the Soundcity MVP Awards Festival supported by Coca-Cola, Etisalat, Guinness & UBA is set to be a premier music showcase to hold in Lagos on the 29th of December where the annual music award festival would honour the continent’s finest music talent in key categories, as they battle for the music industry’s highest honour – a statuette at #TheMVPs.
Nigeria’s Wizkid is leading the way with a record-breaking eight nominations, including four nods to his continent wide smash hit ‘Baba Nla’ for Best Song, Best Video, Viewers’ Choice and Listeners’ Choice with South Africa’s Emtee and Nigeria’s Olamide at a second close. The 2016 Soundcity MVP will broadcast live across the globe on Thursday, 29 December from the Expo Center of the Eko Hotel & Suites, in Lagos Nigeria.
Man of the moment Davido is up for Digital Artiste of the Year alongside Tekno, A.K.A, P-Square, Tiwa Savage and Cassper Nyovest. The 2016 Soundcity MVP would see Kenya’s Victoria Kimani, Tanzania’s Vanessa Mdee and Ghana’s MzVee face off with their Nigerian counterpart for Female MVP of the Year. Adekunle Gold’s ‘Pick Up’ and Tekno’s ‘Pana’ go head to head for both Viewers’ Choice and Listeners’ Choice. ‘Soweto Baby’ by South Africa’s DJ Maphorisa, ‘Mbilo Mbilo (Remix)’ by Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo and Emtee’s ‘Roll Up’ would be battling other Nigerian collaborative anthems for Best Collaboration.

The Soundcity MVP Awards Festival (#TheMVPs) is set to move African music forward.
